There are so very manyof this type of restaurant about the Canton and Riverside area, that sometimes you might not ever know where to start.
The Balti Wallah is a Punjabi and Tandoori restaurant, although I'll quite freely admit to not quite knowing how that differentiates it from others of the same ilk. If you ehad down to this place, expect curries and the like for good prices in an intimate, if slightly shabby, setting.
Although many of these restaurants are quite satisfactory, there are many superior restaurants a little walk away in the swanky area of Pontcanna. Worth the walk. -
Qype User (Gork…)
ok, ok. This resturant used to be on the opposite side of the road (next to the Kings Castle) and used to be very good. I went to the new building a coupld of months ago and it was still quite nice, though Bhaji's weren't great. This weekend we ordered a take away from here and I will NEVER RETURN AGAIN. I basically paid £16 for some plastic containers, the food was pretty much inedible. It was all cold, Chicken Rogan had a non-spicy sauce and consisted of chicken in sauce and with a layer of chopped tomatos on top! The Vegetable Bhuna was no such thing, no flavour, just a bowl of cabbage and onions in non-descript sauce, again no spice. The three teaspoons of aloo chat were a bright orange flavourless joke. Need i go on! It was an embarrassment and I would have complained but I was frankly too embarrassed and the night has been ruined enough without confrontation.
